On June 3rd & again on June 9th, my husband called for an ambulance to take me to the hospital. By the 9th I was gravely ill & delirious. I ended up in ICU for 3 weeks & came very close to death from septic shock. I have no memory of most of that time, but my husband says I was in severe pain all over my body & couldn't walk (turned out to be a hip abcess requiring emergent surgery). The medics & engine crew carried me down a flight of 15 steps & carefully drove gently over speed bumps & around potholes to minimize my pain. We will be forever grateful.
